The Crazy Tube Circuits Venus is a real-tube overdrive built to capture the spirit of classic tube-drive tones, but with a modern, compact and highly flexible execution. Its range goes from smooth, warm and articulate tube overdrive to high-gain, nasty distortion that can push into fuzz-like territory, with the harmonic richness and natural compression of a real tube circuit.

Instead of using a traditional internal step-down transformer, Venus runs from a standard 9V DC center-negative supply and generates the required ±15V DC internally, minimizing noise and hum while preserving headroom. It ships with an ECC832 tube: half ECC83/12AX7 and half ECC82/12AU7. This keeps the feel close to the classic tube-drive reference while adding clarity, string separation and a wider soundstage.

The Bias control is one of the pedal’s key features. It adjusts the current passing through the tube cathodes and reshapes the drive texture: counter-clockwise moves into gnarly, nasty, gated territory, while clockwise settings become smoother, creamier and cleaner. Venus also lets you experiment with common dual-triode tube types such as ECC83/12AX7, 5751, ECC81/12AT7, 12AY7 and ECC82/12AU7, using Bias to find the sweet spot for each tube.

The tone section is fully equipped with a 3-band EQ, giving precise control over bass, mids and treble. The mid control is especially useful for moving through different flavors of the original tube-drive family and for working with slightly mid-scooped clean amps. A Fat/Tight switch adjusts how much low and low-mid energy hits the tube gain stages, making it easy to match Venus to different guitars, pickups and rigs.

Finally, Venus includes a switchable low-output-impedance line driver, acting as a buffer/volume booster at the output of the effect to properly drive the next pedal or amp. The bypass remains true bypass at all times, regardless of the line driver setting.
