The Beetronics LARVA Morphing Phaser is a 6-stage analog phaser that goes way beyond the usual psychedelic swirl. It is phaser, vibee and preamp in one pedal, built around one very powerful idea: you can create two independent rate/depth settings and then switch or morph between them using smooth, rhythmic or more dramatic ramping movements.

The result is lively, expressive and deeply musical modulation. Use it as a thick, warm vintage-style phaser, as a liquid Vibee texture, or even as a standalone preamp to fatten up the signal, add saturation and push your tone into a more 70s-inspired psychedelic lead zone.

The preamp section is inspired by the classic Moogerfooger line, and it makes perfect sense inside a phaser. Many phasers thin out your tone when engaged; LARVA does the opposite. You can keep it clean and balanced, or push it for extra body, grit and presence. The bypass LED also acts as a preamp saturation meter, turning orange or red as the preamp starts to drive.

Morphing is the heart of the pedal. Set Rate 1 / Depth 1 for your first sound and Rate 2 / Depth 2 for the second. Then choose the ramp shape and set how fast the pedal moves between them. The ramp LEDs show the motion visually, so you always know where the modulation is headed.

LARVA is also designed for far more than guitar: it works beautifully with bass, Rhodes, keys, synths and line-level signals when Pre and Master are adjusted properly. It’s for players who want a warm, beautiful phaser — and also an expressive tool for movements a traditional phaser simply can’t do.

Hidden functions

Hold the bypass footswitch to access alternate controls:

• Ramp Speed Offset: changes the LFO center point and interacts with Depth.
• Rate 2 Subdivision: turns Rate 2 into a subdivision of Rate 1, great for syncing both settings and creating more musical ramps.
• These settings are saved when the pedal powers off.
• The pedal also remembers its last bypass/engaged state.
