The Greer Amps Mori Drive is Greer’s take on one of the most beloved overdrive territories: the classic Tube Screamer / TS-style circuit, refined to feel more open, more flexible and easier to stack. For years, players asked Greer for a drive based around that famous “mid hump”, and the result is not a flat TS clone, but a carefully voiced version with the company’s own signature feel.

In terms of sonic family, the Mori Drive sits between vintage TS territory and certain K-style / Klon-style frequency ranges. It keeps the mid push that helps a guitar sit in a mix, but places that emphasis in a more pleasing area, with more output available and a less nasal feel than many traditional Tube Screamer-style pedals.

The circuit uses a JRC4558 chip, historically associated with the TS world, but Greer reshapes the overall response so the pedal works better with pushed amps and other overdrives. The goal is not to cover your tone with a fixed mid layer, but to add focus, sustain and smooth saturation that blends naturally.

The asymmetrical clipping helps the drive feel more organic, fluid and less stiff. It responds well to dynamics, sits beautifully in front of an amp on the edge of breakup, and shines as a stacking pedal. Greer specifically points to its ability to work alongside other drives, including Lightspeed and Southland, for a wide palette of texture, tone and feel.

The Tone control has a wide sweet spot, letting you adjust brightness without making the pedal thin, harsh or overly dark. The Mori also has more output volume than a standard TS circuit, so it can work as a main overdrive, mid-focused boost, amp pusher or second gain stage.

“Mori” means “forest” in Japanese, and the name fits: this is not an overdrive trying to shout over everything, but one that finds its natural place in the mix.
