The Cosmodio Instruments Horoscope Echo Sequencer is a stereo delay and reverb that turns repeats into rhythmic and melodic material. Rather than simply repeating your signal at regular intervals, it manipulates clock speeds to change delay time and pitch simultaneously, then organizes those shifts into sequences, arpeggios, mutations and chance-driven patterns.
The starting point is a classic delay phenomenon: abruptly change delay time while a repeat is playing and its pitch changes with it. Horoscope takes that behavior and turns it into the heart of a much deeper instrument. Build psychedelic pitch-shifting patterns, unusual arpeggios, heavy industrial pulses, evolving rhythmic echoes or huge ambient textures that appear to develop a life of their own.
In terms of sonic lineage, Horoscope is not based on one classic delay circuit. It sits in the world of sequenced pitch delays, clock-manipulated echoes, synthesizer arpeggiators and experimental processors. What makes the concept particularly unusual is that the same sequencing system can be applied not only to a defined delay but also to a diffuse ambient reverb.
The Precise / Diffuse selector moves between those two worlds. In Precise mode, Horoscope operates as a delay where time divisions and clock changes remain clearly identifiable. In Diffuse mode, the same language is applied to an ambient reverb, turning pitch changes, sequences and mutations into much more abstract clouds of sound.
Constellation is one of the key controls. It works both as a coarse clock control and as a selector for interval clusters used to construct sequences. Cosmodio draws inspiration from modern electronic music as well as ancient tuning systems, ranging from pure octaves and Pythagorean intervals to pentatonic and diatonic structures based on just intonation.
Sequence determines the architecture of the pattern. It can generate arpeggios, fixed-length rhythmic sequences or move into effectively endless random behavior. Drift adds another dimension: depending on the mode, it introduces pitch warble, glissandos or progressive mutations of the sequence steps themselves.
This is where Horoscope becomes particularly interesting. Not everything needs to remain predetermined. Chance operations, stochastic behavior and genetic mutation allow patterns to change and evolve over time. You can create something repeatable and musical or let the pedal gradually drift away from its original state.
Horoscope also provides 4 customizable presets, tap tempo, expression pedal and 0–5V CV control with customizable mappings over every parameter, mono, stereo and mono-to-stereo routing, plus a choice between mechanical bypass and buffered bypass with echo trails.
It can function as a fully featured delay without touching its most experimental capabilities. But once Constellation, Sequence and Drift enter the picture, Horoscope begins to feel less like an effect pedal and more like a compact composition instrument.
