The EAE Halberd is a discrete transistor overdrive built for maximum dynamic range and note clarity. It fills a unique niche: medium gain that carries the harmonic fullness and grind of a much higher-gain pedal, while staying distinct from both op-amp distortion buzz and smooth JFET amp-style breakup.

Its voice comes from a unique transistor configuration that feels familiar yet different—somewhere between a blown-up tweed and an overloaded console. It isn’t chasing “transparency”; it adds character in a collaborative way, reacting differently to guitars, amps, bass, and even synths, while leaving its own fingerprints.

Key features

Discrete transistor overdrive focused on dynamics and clarity
3-position Voice switch:
- Clang (up): more upper-mid gain, aggressive attack
- Standard (middle): moderate gain with gentle mid push (Halberd V1 voice)
- Deep (down): full-range boost, woollier saturation and fuzzier attack
Pre: overall gain (light compression to fuzzy OD depending on Voice/Depth)
Depth: input low-shelf that interacts with Pre (a “low-frequency gain” control)
Tone: output high-shelf cut for taming harsher frequencies at high gain
Post: overall output level, buffered for clarity at any level
Works great on guitar, bass, and synthesizer
V2.5 updates: improved Pre/Depth tapers for better control and +3dB max gain
