The Fish Circuits Exploration #2 is a limited-run fuzz built around one very specific mission: putting the guitar back where it belongs in a mix — the midrange. Instead of leaning into the usual massive bass, sharp treble and scooped mids of many classic fuzz circuits, the EXPL #2 does the opposite: it cuts, pushes and plants itself right in the center of the band.

Sonically, this pedal starts from the Big Muff / stoner rock fuzz universe, but it is not a straight clone. Fish Circuits takes one of the most common variations of that circuit family, strips it down to the clipping section, removes anything resembling a tilt EQ, and rebuilds the design around one obsession: boosting the mids before and after saturation.

The result is a thick, characterful and high-output fuzz that sits much more clearly in a mix than a traditional stoner fuzz. Depending on the Form setting, it can be heavy and messy, aggressive and focused, or sharp, forward and lead-ready.

The pedal has only two controls, but plenty of range. Level sets the overall output, with enough volume to push an amp or the next pedal in the chain. Form is the real core of the EXPL #2: a three-position selector that changes gain, pre-clipping mids, post-clipping mids and a touch of treble.

The left position gives you the closest voice to classic stoner fuzz: thick, low-end heavy, messy and slightly melancholic, with the mids pulled back. The center position brings the midrange forward, trimming just enough bass so the guitar lands exactly where it should: clear, aggressive and present. The right position stops asking for permission: more mid boost before and after clipping, less low end, stronger attack and a lead voice that will cut through almost anything.

As part of the Exploration Series, Fish Circuits uses these pedals as a laboratory: limited runs, more focused concepts and designs that do not need to please everyone. Only 100 units of Exploration #2 were made.
