The JAM Pedals Wahcko mk.2 takes one of JAM’s most established wah designs into a new generation, retaining its vocal, organic and expressive character while adding significantly more control over how the pedal responds to your guitar, bass, amp and playing style.
In terms of sonic lineage, the Wahcko sits firmly in the world of classic 1960s Cry Baby and Vox-style wah circuits. The new version uses a custom JAM inductor inspired by vintage TDK designs found in classic wahs of that era. It is not intended as a clone of one specific vintage unit; instead, it preserves that open, vocal and musical response while making it far more adaptable.
The side-mounted 6-position SWEEP rotary switch selects six different frequency ranges. You can move from deeper, thicker and rounder voices to brighter, more present and cutting sweeps without changing pedals. This is particularly useful when switching between different guitars, humbuckers and single coils, clean or driven amps, or simply finding the right frequency range to sit in a mix.
The mk.2 also introduces an internal Q trimmer, adjusting the intensity and resonant character of the wah. Together with the SWEEP selector, this lets you control not only where the wah operates but how pronounced, vocal or aggressive its response feels. The original Input Gain trimmer is retained for adjusting how strongly the instrument drives the circuit.
Another major addition is the internal Guitar / Bass mode selection via DIP switches. Bass mode extends the expressive sweep into lower registers while retaining the feel and musical response of the original Wahcko, making the same pedal genuinely useful for both instruments.
The physical rocker tension can also be adjusted using the included 4mm Allen key. Set it lighter for fast funk movement or firmer for slow, controlled sweeps and fixed cocked-wah positions.
The Wahcko has been part of the JAM family since 2008 and has found its way onto the boards of players including Nile Rodgers, Bill Frisell, John Scofield, Steve Lukather, Richie Sambora and Greg Koch. The mk.2 keeps that core identity while giving the player considerably more control over how the wah feels and responds.
