The J. Rockett Audio Designs Aqueous Chorus is a modern chorus built to cover several eras of modulation: from thick vintage bucket-brigade-style chorus of the 70s, through lush 80s movement, all the way to more open, watery, modern chorus/vibe textures associated with Eric Johnson-style tones.

In terms of sonic territory, the Aqueous sits in the vintage BBD chorus/vibrato family, but with modern controls that make it easier to fit into your rig. It is not presented as a strict recreation of one specific classic pedal; instead, it combines old-school organic modulation character with practical EQ, mix and preamp shaping.

One of its most useful features is the Tilt EQ, which works only on the wet signal. Turn it one way for darker, warmer and more vintage-leaning chorus textures; turn it the other way for brighter, more liquid and more present sounds. This makes it easy to place the chorus in the mix without dramatically altering your dry tone.

The other key feature is the built-in preamp. Many modulation pedals can cause a perceived volume drop or make the signal feel slightly smaller when engaged. Here, J. Rockett adds a preamp section for gain makeup, input control and extra feel, helping the circuit come alive under the fingers.

The Mix control moves between chorus and vibe-style textures, reaching vibe-only territory toward the end of its range. With Speed and Depth, you can go from subtle, elegant movement to more extreme modulation, rotary-speaker-style sounds, psychedelic textures and deep, lush chorus.
