The Vemuram Las Lunas is a distortion pedal developed over many years to pursue the drive sound of “that era”: the late 1970s to early 1980s, when many guitar heroes were shaping modern rock guitar with pushed amps, organic saturation, sustain and a highly touch-sensitive response.
In terms of sonic family, this is not a direct recreation of one specific classic pedal. Las Lunas is better understood as an amp-drive / classic rock distortion built around the sound of saturated amplifiers and late-70s/early-80s guitar rigs. It aims for that difficult balance between gain, body, definition and a natural feel under the fingers.
One of its strongest features is the passive 3-band EQ, designed for wide but musical tone shaping. The Bass control offers a broad low-end range, addressing one of the common issues with distortion pedals: a lack of weight or a feeling that the tone becomes smaller. Here, you can tune the body of the pedal to different guitars, pickups and amplifiers without the sound falling apart.
The Tone control works across a wide range centered around the mids, significantly shaping the overall character: warmer, more open, more present or darker depending on your rig. The Treble control fine-tunes a higher-frequency range without drastically affecting the lows or mids, making it ideal for dialing in final brightness while keeping the core distortion intact.
Las Lunas offers two selectable distortion styles via the DIST A/B toggle. DIST A gives you a flatter, warmer and more detailed drive sound, ideal for articulate rhythm work, dynamic leads and tones where you want the guitar’s identity to remain intact. DIST B is edgier, sharper and fuller-bodied, perfect for riffs with more authority, leads that need to cut and more powerful drive tones.
Each A/B position is also linked to its own SAT trimmer, allowing fine-tuning of harmonic saturation for each mode. This lets you match the pedal precisely to the rest of your gear, from a more open and organic distortion to a more compressed, dense and harmonically rich texture.
Like many Vemuram designs, Las Lunas is built for players who want more than “more gain”: they want a drive that feels complete, flexible and alive. A pedal for recreating the distortion sound of a golden era, with enough control to work in a modern rig.
